Anne Fehres, b.1988, the Netherlands & Luke Conroy, b.1990, Australia

Anne Fehres was born in The Hague, the Netherlands, and graduated from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Ghent, Belgium. Luke Conroy was born in Devonport, Australia, and holds a Postgraduate Studies in Art Education from Charles Darwin University, Australia. The two artists have been collaborating as a duo on interdisciplinary art projects since 2018. Their practice revolves around engaging with socio-cultural topics in meaningful yet playful, humorous, and ironic ways for critical reflection and expression. The duo live in the Netherlands, working across Europe, Asia, and Australia.

In the year 2070, there is a session titled Guided By Nature, where a futuristic figure undertakes a variety of bodily positions and thought exercises under the instruction of an off-screen deep, male narrator. The session initially appears to be a harmonious and reassuring experience. However, it gradually takes on an uncomfortable tone and claims as a personification of air itself… Unfolding is an experimental work that invites the audience to participate in the session with specific outfits, as well as to imagine and reflect on the ingrained assumptions toward nature and humanity.
